Types of Penetration Tests

There are three types of penetration tests:

  1. Static cone penetration test
  2. Dynamic cone penetration test
  3. Standard penetration test

By conducting test 1 you can get information regarding cone resistance,side friction and these results are useful in driving piles.

By conducting test 2 you can get information regarding the variability and uniformity of the subsoil and if subsoil is erratic its better to cancel this test.

By conducting test 3 you can get information regarding resistance to penetration of sampler which will be correlated with other strength properties and also sample can be obtained from this test
