Singly reinforced cement concrete are those sections in which longitudinal bars are provided in the tension zone of the section.
Doubly reinforced cement concrete are those sections in which longitudinal bars are provided in the tension zone as well as in the compression zone. Longitudinal bars in the compression zone are provided to carry the extra bending moment on the section. Doubly RCCs are used due to restrictions in beam width, eccentric loadings and in continuous beams.
