Can ground subsidence in alluvial aquifers create existing faultlines to become active? e.g. If a unconfined aquifer had high periods of low recharge with increasing levels of draw from surface city loading and infrastructure? with shrinkage in clay and silts in a greywacke base could it cause mass subsidence or activate a faultline causing earthquakes/tremors?
